Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race
October 27 - November 3, 2012
The Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race course traverses isolated jungle, pine forests, and crosses major rivers while passing though small settlements and villages. Yaks, wild ponies, and the Red Panda have been seen at higher elevations by some runners. At each overnight stop, meals are fully catered in rustic mountain hut accommodations. The course is most often described as the "most spectacular running course in the world" due to the panoramic views of the world's highest mountains. Sightseeing in the Darjeeling area includes the famous Himalayan Mountaineering Museum, Toy Train, and important Tibetan monasteries.
