Our own Lisa Smith-Batchen inducted into the Badwater Hall of Fame!

The Badwater ultramarathon is considered one of the toughest races in the world. 135 miles and crossing one of the hottest places in the world, Death Valley, makes Badwater a one of a kind race.

Lisa Smith-Batchen joins a prestigious group of runners, coaches and extreme athletes for this incredibly special award. The Badwater Hall of Fame was created to honor those who have made historic, critical contributions to the development, history, and success of this event.

Lisa has completed Badwater an amazing 9 times including winning twice. She has even run a Badwater double! Lisa now coaches athletes to successful finishes at Badwater and other races around the world.

2013 MDS UPDATE

If your name is on the list of those selected to participate in the 2013 MDS, you should have received an email earlier today (Wednesday, March 21) from our office with details on pre-registration for the 2013 event. Please contact our office if you did not receive this update as the deadline to secure a spot is Wednesday, April 25.

Teten Turkey Chase

Runners toe the line for the start of the 2011 Teton Turkey Chase.

The 2011 Teton Turkey Chase was held on Saturday, Novemeber 19th, and although it was quite breezy and cold, the number of participants was still up nicely from last year. All together more than 120 runners ran in the 10K, 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run. The 10K race was won by Matthew Chorney from Jackson with a time of 36:46:00. Liz Onufer won the women’s division in 51:25:00. Caleb Moosman of Driggs won the 5K with a time of 18:57. Melissa Davidson of Victor finished in 24:59 to win the women’s division. Aidan Walters of Driggs and Rylee Raz of Victor won the 1 Mile Fun Run Fun with times of 6:55 and 7:15 respectively. This year we had 36 runners from the Rundezvous Program from the Rendezvous Upper Elementary School. This is a wonderful initiative to encourage our young people to get out and be active.

Most of the runners stayed around for snacks and to visit well after the finish of their event, and it was clear the everyone was having a great time.

There are still a few race day shirts available for sale at the Dreamchasers store for just $10. Stop by and pick one up while they last.

2013 MDS Lottery Is OPEN!

The lottery for spots in the 2013 Marathon Des Sables, for those living in Canada and the USA, is now open! If you are interested in participating in the 2013 event, please visit the 2013 LOTTERY tab on our website, before November 4th, and enter your contact information. We’ll draw the names and post the list to website during the week of November 17th. Best of luck to everyone out there!!!

- AS#5 and AS#9 will have Jelly Belly Sport Beans, courtesy of the great folks at Yippie I-O Candy on Jackson Town Square. These will be in the mini serving size bags, containing six assorted flavor beans (approximately 50 cal.).

Well, if you weren’t up at Targhee with us on Saturday, you really missed out. The weather was perfect, and as always, the scenery was spectacular. Thanks to all the participants in the 4 races, and congratulations to the winners. Also, a big thanks goes out to the sponsors and volunteers, without whom the event could not have taken place. Race Registration Re-Opened: 50 Mile, 50K and Trail Marathon

We had several calls this morning from runners still wanting to sign-up for this weekend’s races. So registration has been re-opened until 3:00 PM today for the 50 Mile, 50K and Trail Marathon Races. The 10K Registration is open until Friday at 3:00 PM.

Grand Teton Races / AID Station Update

Please note, the 2 satellite water stations on the course are both self-service. Participants in all events, including the 10K, should carry a hydration source (water bottle or bladder system) while on the course. There will be a limited food supply at the Cold Springs AS (due to bear sighting) so you can expect the following there: drinks (Hammer Heed and sodas), gels and a small selection of food (chips, hard candy). While we suggest that every participant carry a supply of things they like, all of the other full-service aid stations will have: Hammer Heed (Strawberry or Orange), sodas (coke, ginger ale, mt. dew, sprite or similar), snacks (eg: Hammer gel, chips, pretzels, hard candy, cookies, m&ms, pb&j sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, fruit, plus other random selections); electrolyte tablets; vaseline; sunscreen; bug spray and ice.
